What is the strongest fishing line?
The line is one of the elements that must be taken into account when building our fishing equipment. Indeed, we will have several options at our disposal for this. In order to promote successful fishing, we must know which fishing line to choose in order to optimise the choices we make.
The need for line resistance
Using fishing line that has good strength is a great help in fishing. If the line you choose does not have the right level of strength for the fish you are fishing, the line will break. On the one hand, you will have lost the fish, and on the other, so will the leader, lure and other related items.
However, this is not the only thing that will affect the strength of your line. If you are fishing in rocky waters, abrasion can become a real problem. Over time, abrasion can cause your line to break.
Use nylon line
Fishing lines are special in that they have a high elasticity. While this is not so desirable in some styles of fishing, for others it is a great asset. For example, if you are planning to catch a large fish, a nylon line is a good choice.
The advantage of nylon is that the tension is distributed evenly along the line. This means that the line will not be too taut, and you limit the risk of breakage. It’s also a good way to tire out the fish, provided you do it right.
Turning to fluorocarbon
It is not so common to have fishing lines that are made entirely of fluorocarbon. It is often used mainly for leaders, where this material is most effective. Fluorocarbon lines are distinguished by being very stiff.
They will also have a good transparency, which is a good point not to be seen by fish. The risk is that you don’t see your line yourself. So it is best to use it only for the leader of your rod.
Using braid for fishing
Braid is one style of fishing line that will also provide good strength. However, it will not be as flexible as nylon, and will have the advantage of transmitting fish vibrations well. Fishing with a toc is the one that will benefit the most here.
You can use this line and pull it out of the water quickly when you feel a bite. The strength of this line lies in the fact that it has several strands. The tension is therefore evenly distributed between them. This makes for a very strong line that can easily support the weight of even large fish.
